METAL FINISHING CHEMICALS

Metal Finishing Chemicals

CTCC CROWN TOWERS CHEMICALS FOR SUPPLIES AND COMMERCIAL AGENCIES

Common chemicals used in Surface Finishing Processes are Nitric Acid, Chromic Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Ammonia, Sulfuric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, and Phosphoric Acid.

Surface and Metal Finishing Applications

Surface Finishing is a process involved in millions of products throughout the world. It is used for a variety of reasons such as corrosion protection, appearance, wear resistance, lubricity, and physical enhancement of a substrate, which has traditionally been metal. Technological advances now allow other substrates to enhance such as Plastics. Surface Finishing is used across a number of markets from simple Commodities to Mission Critical Components.

Surface Finishing utilizes a variety of chemical substances contained in process tanks to electroplate or treat parts. Common chemicals used in Surface Finishing Processes are Nitric Acid, Chromic Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Ammonia, Sulfuric Acid, Hydroflouric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, and Phosphoric Acid. These chemicals can evolve from the surface of the process tank as a gaseous vapor or mist and must be contained to avoid worker exposure and prevent corrosion to equipment and building structures. The chemical emissions must also be controlled to prevent them from escaping into the surrounding environment.  This is achieved utilizing a local exhaust ventilation system with a Chemical Scrubber or Mist Eliminator as an effective control device.

Crown-chem Engineered Systems designs complete Surface Finishing Systems and Corrosion Resistant Ventilation Systems to locally capture and control the emissions from Surface Finishing Processes. With 40 years of experience in the Surface Finishing Industry, we are longtime members of the National Association for Surface Finishing and have completed specific training and examinations for the Certified Electroplater-Finisher (CEF) designation, along with other industry specific courses. Please Contact Crown-chem to discuss your Surface and Metal Finishing equipment needs and the various technologies and systems available.

Copper chemicals

Copper chemicals – high quality for stable processes

Crown Chemicals has a wide range of copper products whose high quality is much valued as additives or base substances for formulations in various industrial sectors. Our copper compounds are used for various applications, from heterogeneous catalysis and coating processes to chemical synthesis, and are continually qualitatively developed in close cooperation with our customers

Crown Chemicals always tries to provide the right copper chemical for any of the applications of copper. We focus upon a close cooperation with our customers so that we can both adapt to the ever changing market conditions fast. Users from various industrial sectors value Crown Chemicals’ high-quality copper chemicals, which always meet their specifications. We achieve this by adapting the product quality to the respective needs, e.g. by producing our copper methane sulphonate solution only from very pure raw copper and methane sulphonic acid.

Nickel chemicals

Nickel chemicals – safely produced and used

Crown Chemicals’ nickel salts and solutions are only made from very pure raw metal. They thus meet the electroplating, electronic and catalysis industries’ very high standards. The Hagen production site is fully in line with all the industrial safety and environmental protection regulations pertaining to the production of nickel chemicals.

Crown Chemicals AG’s nickel portfolio covers a wide area. With nitrate, sulphate and chloride, it comprises strong acids’ salts, and with acetate, phosphate and sulphamate also the salts of weak acids. The portfolio is made complete by nickel hydroxide carbonate, which we provide in various drying degrees.

Crown Chemicals AG’s nickel products are mostly used for electroplating. This extends from the corrosion protection of metal surfaces and decorative layers of nickel on metal-plated plastics to electronics. A permanently small range of disruptive elements in our nickel chemicals aside, we provide our customers with customised product variants for an exclusive toll-manufacture of complete bath formulations.

And our nickel chemicals are also used in heterogeneous catalysis and for the production of pigments. In our production processes, we see to stable conditions so that we can guarantee reproducible solid-body properties like particle size and specific surfaces.

Tin chemicals

Tin chemicals – a wide range of products

Crown Towers Chemical co is one of the largest manufacturers of inorganic chemicals based upon tin. We have a huge portfolio of products for the electroplating industry, but also supply the construction and lubricants sectors. In close cooperation with our customers we continually develop new products so that we can adapt to the ever changing market conditions fast.

Crown chemicals are primarily used in the electroplating industry to produce tin surfaces with special decorative or functional properties. We have the full range of tin salts and solutions, from classic acidic tin (II) sulphates and chlorides, alkaline sodium and potassium stannates to modern tin methane sulphonates.

Electroplating applications aside, tin(II) sulphates are, for example, used in the building materials industry as an additive to reduce chromate levels. Tin(IV) sulphide is used as a solid lubricant and a number of tin-based chemicals are used for the electrolytic dying of aluminium surfaces.

Zinc chemicals

Zinc chemicals – for a wide range of applications

Crown Chemical Co is one of the largest manufacturers of zinc chemicals in Europe. Our standard product portfolio includes, in liquid and solid form, zinc chloride compounds in various mix ratios and with or without additives, and a number of other compounds. The bulk of our zinc chloride is used in our own production of fluxes for the galvanizing industry.

Zinc is an important trace element and raw material for various applications.

Our zinc chloride solution is available in various concentrations and qualities and can be used for various applications like the production of plastic, in water treatment and for catalysts, for example

Our zinc chloride powder is used in the chemical industry and for water and surface treatment and in fluxes based upon zinc ammonium chloride.

Zinc bromide is mainly used in petroleum production as a so-called “completion fluid“.

Zinc nitrate is used in electroplating, agriculture and acetate fibre dying.

Zinc carbonate, also zinc hydroxide carbonate, is used, for example, in the production of rubber and bitumen or for sunscreen agents. It is also used as an activator in sulphur and thiuram vulcanisation as a vulcanisation agent, in carboxylated rubbers and as an activator in latex diving articles. It is also used as the basis for the production of zinc oxide.

Zinc acetate is used in the production of wood preservation products, catalysts and other zinc salts.

We provide our customers with customised product variants including exclusive toll-manufacture.

Organic chemicals

Organic chemicals – organic intermediates and formulations

Our organic chemicals comprise both intermediates and mixtures. It thus completes our range of inorganic base substances in an appropriate fashion, for surface technology in particular. We have a wide range of organic, functional additives. These products are used in the electroplating and hot-dip galvanizing industry. Our products range from various cleaners to process additives.

Organic intermediates, surfactants in particular, are important raw materials for the formulation of electroplating baths and for hot-dip galvanizing, where they serve as grain refiners, brighteners or solubilisers for other bath components.

Our ready-to-use formulations include the correct ratio of components for certain applications in the electroplating sector and in hot-dip galvanising, here primarily for the pre-treatment and finishing of plated components.

Our Crown Stanal product group forms a complete process chemicals portfolio for the chemical tinning of aluminium components, including pre-treatment, activation, plating and finishing treatment. The method is mostly used in engine piston production.

For hot-dip galvanising, we have four product segments

·         Crown Clean – a highly effective cleaner for dipping processes, both alkaline and acidic

·         Crown Additive – highly efficient process additives like surfactants, drying aids and other bath care additives

·         Crown Inhibitor – a pickling additive to control acid attacks on metal

·         Crown Finish – organic passivations to keep a shiny, galvanized surface in that condition for a long time
